Phoenix Will Trial Honeywell's SURF-A Alerting in Airport Service Vehicles
Phoenix's city aviation department and Honeywell Aerospace plan to study Honeywell's Surface Alert system, known as SURF-A, at three airports the city runs. The trial covers the vehicles that work the airfield, not the aircraft. Owners already understand the risk: on a busy morning, a jet taxiing out shares the field with fuel trucks, tugs and operations pickups. This study puts that shared space under examination. For anyone who bases an airplane in the Valley or flies in for the winter season, it is worth watching how the work goes on the ground they already taxi across.
