Tillamook Air Museum Sets Oct. 29 Reopening After a One-Dollar Change of Hands
The blimp hangar on the Oregon coast that houses the Tillamook Air Museum has passed to new owners, and the price on the deed was a single dollar. The museum will open its doors again on Oct. 29. That date lands close to ten months after a storm did enough damage to the building to shut the place down. For anyone who has flown into the Tillamook area and taxied past that structure, the news is simply that it is still standing and will once again have people inside it. A hangar of that era does not get replaced once it is gone, so a transfer that keeps it in use is the outcome worth noting. The nominal sale price says as much about the cost of keeping such a building up as it does about its value on paper. What the new ownership does with the space beyond reopening it has not been described.
