This Season's Most Serious Jewelry Room Isn't on Worth Avenue. It's in Arkansas.
An Arkansas museum has handed its galleries over to the archive of a famous jewelry maker, and the pieces stay up until next March. These are the things the maker kept rather than sold, gemstones and finished work the public almost never gets to stand in front of. Palm Beach will note, with some dignity, that it is a long way from the boutique on Worth Avenue. Miami would have built a party around the opening. Naples would have asked where to park. A run through March gives Florida a whole winter to decide whether a weekend up north is worth it for a glass case, and anyone who has waited an hour for a vault appointment already knows the answer.
