Roughly One in Five Serious Collectors Now Asks the Algorithm Before the Advisor
The Art Basel and UBS Survey of Global Collecting finds that 22 percent of wealthy collectors have brought software into the hunt, leaning on apps and artificial intelligence to help build their holdings. That is a meaningful slice of a crowd that has traditionally trusted a good eye, a trusted dealer and a long lunch. Anyone who has watched a Palm Beach drawing room fill with canvases, or a Naples lanai acquire its first serious sculpture, will recognize the appeal of a second opinion that never sleeps and never takes a commission. Miami, which has never met a new tool it would not try, will likely treat this as old news. The rest of the coast can take it as confirmation that the collecting conversation, from Worth Avenue to Fifth Avenue South, now has a new voice at the table.
