A Cy Young Winner's House on the Puget Sound Is for Sale at $9.8 Million
Floridians tend to picture a ballplayer's house with palm trees out front and a spring training complex down the road. Félix Hernández, the retired Seattle Mariners pitcher and Cy Young Award winner, built his on the far side of the country instead, in the Puget Sound area outside Seattle. That house is now for sale, with an asking price of $9.8 million. It was built to his specifications while he was still pitching for the Mariners, during his 15 seasons with the club. Robb Report calls the place glitzy. In Miami that is a compliment, in Palm Beach it is something people say in a lowered voice, and Naples might want it explained. A house like this was designed around one man's life during the years he was playing, and a buyer gets that along with the rooms. Whoever takes it will be living in a house a Mariners great made for himself, in the city where he pitched.
