Lichtenstein at the Whitney Gets Its Own Window Tribute, and a Quilted Coat Inspires Collectible Chairs
Roy Lichtenstein's major exhibition at the Whitney is being honored outside the museum as well, with boldly designed boutique windows that pay tribute to the artist. In design, a set of chairs made for collectors takes its cue from Marfa Stance's quilted outerwear, carrying the stitched surface of a coat over into furniture. Both appeared this week on Galerie's list of the things its editors love, a list that covers more than the two pieces mentioned here. For New York readers, the Whitney show is the anchor: an American artist at an American museum, now celebrated in store windows too.
