The Seventies Return to the American House, One Wall at a Time

· 1 min read

This fall's color guidance sends the American house back to the seventies: five palettes, each one borrowing its mood from that decade. For an owner weighing a repaint before the holidays, the story is the decade itself, which looks to have earned a second turn on the walls. On a midcentury ranch, a postwar colonial or a newer build in the hills, a single room is enough to show whether the era suits the house. A coat of paint commits the owner to very little, and that makes it a sensible place to start.
