The Bride Who Made Her Own Trousseau, Three Gowns Deep
Micarah Tewers walked through her wedding day in three different dresses, and not one of them came from a shop. She cut and stitched each of them herself. The gown she changed into for the reception was trimmed in feathers, and the materials for it ran to roughly seventeen dollars. That is less than a single corsage costs on most Beverly Hills wedding invoices. The dresses for the ceremony and the hours in between came from the same pair of hands. Her footwear drew notice of its own, though the full account of the shoes has yet to reach us. In a town where couture is ordered a year out, a bride who sewed the whole wardrobe herself is the rarer achievement.
